PROTECTED PASSWORD ENTRY!

     Hello all!
     
     We have a DEC Alpha 2100 running Digital Unix3.2G. I tried to login as
     informix. I couldn't login. I logged in as root and tried:--
     
     su - informix
     su:unknow id :informix
     
     I could see the entry in the passwd file.
     
     I tried to change the password for informix. I get:--
     
     Cannot access the protected password entry. I tried using XISSO
     utility thinking that account maybe locked. But, it doesn't see that
     account either!
     
     Any suggestions??
