Can anyone lend me a pointer to what might be wrong here?
I have a user who cannot log into his normal CDE session. He gets the
normal login box, give the system his name and password, then the blue
"starting cde session" screen, and then poof, back to the pick a system
xdm box. When I look to see if he's got anything running I see this:
ns.encore.com> ps -eaf | grep freh
bseymour 5434 78 0.5 10:09:13 ttyqe 0:00.02 grep freh
ns.encore.com> who | grep freh
frehage ttyr7 Dec 11 08:28
frehage ttyr9 Dec 11 08:28
frehage ttyr8 Dec 11 08:28
So the system thinks he has 3 sessions going, but there's no associated
processes. Finger also shows him active:
ns.encore.com> finger frehage
Login name: frehage In real life: Fred Rehage
Directory: /mnt2/users/frehage Shell: /bin/csh
On since Dec 11 08:28:23 12 days Idle Time
on ttyr7 from x-frehage:0.0
On since Dec 11 08:28:23 12 days Idle Time
on ttyr9 from x-frehage:0.0
On since Dec 11 08:28:24 46 minutes Idle Time
on ttyr8 from x-frehage:0.0
No Plan.
I'm guessing at some point his logout didn't work quite right, but
I'm not sure where to find this leftover information and whether it
can be purged without rebooting.
Any Ideas would be appreciated.
