Hi,
We have a TZ89 on an AS4100. DU 4.0B-004. We are running Oracle 7.3.3.3.
Often when we do an Oracle Export or a tar to the TZ89, the drive goes
offline when the operation finishes and doesn't come back until we reboot
the machine. Trying to access the drive in this state hangs for a few
minutes, then we get a message about no such device. scu -f /dev/rmt0h
does the same. Cycling power to the shelf doesn't help.
The one thing we can definately say causes the problem is when we try any
density other than high. If we stick with High Density, then it goes offline
about 50% of the time.
We called Colorado Support as this sounds like a software problem. The
specialist said it sounded to her like a hardware problem. We called
Field Service, and they have changed every component except the shelf,
and still no joy.
Does anyone on this list have a TZ89, using Oracle Export, with or
without problems? In my gut, this is either a termination issue, a
driver problem, or a microcode problem. I would appreciate any help or
direction.
