Hi again.

This question is not directly related to DU, but I haven't been able to
find another mailing list that can give me an answer (if anyone has any
suggestions, please left me know).

After many hours of trying to get Apache 1.3.0 to "make" and "make test"
sucessfully, I've encountered a problem at the "make install" stage. Here
is an exerpt from the install at the point when things start to go bad:

>===> [data: Installing initial data files]
>Copying tree ./htdocs/ -> /usr/local/apache/share/htdocs/
>tar: apache_pb.gif : unable to preserve owner/group
>tar: index.html : unable to preserve owner/group
>tar: manual/mod/core.html : unable to preserve owner/group
... lots of the same ...
>tar: world1.gif : unable to preserve owner/group
>tar: world2.gif : unable to preserve owner/group
>*** Exit 1
>Stop.
>*** Exit 1
>Stop.
>*** Exit 1
>Stop.

Are these errors appearing because I need to setup a special user with UID
125 (that's the ownership of the distributed html files)? I can't imagine why.

I'm running Digital Unix 4.0B, Perl 5.004_04 and I'm trying to install
mod_perl 1.14 along with Apache. I've tried installing Apache 1.3 without
mod_perl but I get the same uninformative error.

Thanks!

ian
