Hello,
1) I need to expand the disk capacity in an Alpha 2100 A500MP server.
There are currently 3 RAID sets, two of which are internal storage works.
One of the RAID sets is an 8-member RAID 5 of RZ28-VA 2.1 GB disks which I
would like to replace with 8-DS-RZ1DB-VW 9.1 GB disks. Can I do this as
a simple one-for-one replacement or do I need a new RCU (Raid Controller
Unit) QB-2XHAH-SB Version 3.2 ? Also how do I determine if I have a PCI
slot available which I believe I will need?
2) Another option that was suggested was to scrap the 2.1 GB disks and set
up an external RAID set, an MTI 8300 54 GB, which I think requires a FAST
WIDE DIFFERENTIAL controller ? Is this a feasible and better alternative?
If so, which controller do I need?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
