Hi, HSZ specialists
I am trying to make a dual-redundant configuration out of two HSZ40
controllers in a SW300 cabinet.
Actually, I have two cabinets where I move the controller from one to
the other.
What I have done is to connect the hosts like below:
Y-cable Y-cable
---------- terminator terminator ----------
| | / \ | |
| HOST A |/----------- ----- ---------\| HOST B |
| | \ / \ / | |
---------- | | | | ----------
TRILINK TRILINK
| |
-------- --------
| hsz40| | hsz40 |
-------- ---------
The hosts are powered off.
The upper controller has SCSI ID=6
The lower controller has SCSI ID=7
I try to run the following command:
> SET FAILOVER COPY=THIS_CONTROLLER
But then it complaints saying something like:
Cannot rundown units D6, D7. It is just as if the controllers cannot
agree on who's in charge. I have checked the cache and all that, they
are identical.
Am I doing this all wrong or what ? Am I supposed to somehow 'zap' the
information in the second controller ?
The SCSI ID's of the controllers, should they be the same or
different? I suppose that they should be the same. Can I run cfmenu on
one controller and 'delete' everything without ruining the contents of
the disks? would that help?
Yours, Lars Bro
PS: How do I make a fully redundant configuration with two buses and
two controllers ? The configuration above uses only one bus. I know it
can be done with HSZ50's.
