Hi
I'm trying to get tcp/ip printing to work from DU thru a 3com cs2100
terminal server to a line printer.
>From VMS using multinet it works ok - we set up a queue to the ip
address of the port of the terminal server that the printer is
attached to via a serial connection. The vms printing required that it
print to port 513 (which is the login port - I can't work out why). We
also did it on another machine running VMS and some other proprietry
software that also successfully did tcp/ip printing and also required
it to be sent to port 513
I've set up the following printcap purely on guesswork and looking at
some of the mailing list archives. I've tried rp as text, raw and
blank but the job sits in the queue and nothing happens.
lp14|14|testprint:\
:lf=/usr/adm/lp14err:\
:lp=:\
:rm=69.10.21.164/513:\
:rp=text:\
:sd=/usr/spool/lpd14:
When not using the 513 in the printcap the error message I get is
waiting for the ip address to come up. I'm not sure if this syntax for
a specific port is supported under DU - there was nothing in the man
pages about it.
I looked at the stuff on Dec Servers but they seem to print to the ip
of the actual server then specify the port name. Our terminal servers
actually have an ip address for each port.
Anyone done this or have any ideas.
TIA
