SUMMARY: duplicate disk listings on SHOW DEV

THE PROBLEM: I've been trying to add 3 external Seagate HAWK 2XL
ST32155N drives to my AXP 3000/600, which already has an external DAT
drive attached. However, when I do a SHOW DEV, I get a listing of *6*
ST32155N drives, not 3. It's possible for me to disklabel and newfs the
drives, and use all three during a session, but on reboot all but the
first comes up with "Dirty File System". The tape drive is last in the
bus.

THE SOLUTION: According to Alan Rollow, "Unit numbering is the problem.
You have at least two of the devices on the bus set to the same target
id."

He was correct. I had been trusting the SCSI ID switches on the disk
case. The switches (or the wires to the address pins on the drives) were
faulty, because when I set the IDs using jumpers on the drive,
everything was beautiful.
Thanks, Alan!

Thanks also to Jon Wright and Andy, who responded to my request for help
within MINUTES!
