lsm with root file system

hi all,
can any body help me if i can setup my m/c alpha 8400 running DU4.0d
to make the root file system on an lsm volume
i do mean that i wanna resize my root file system if it is full due to
log files or any layer product installation
can any body advise me if it is possible or not and if , how can i make
it ???
