Dear Managers,

my problem was to install DU V4.0D in RIS. For more information see
below. The answer came from

   Dr. Tom Blinn (tpb_at_zk3.dec.com)

as follows:
> You get this error when the kit doesn't live in a mount point. It's a bug

That's what I did and it works well. Thanks to Dr. Blinn!

with greetings

The original question was (shortend):

My problem: Installing DU V4.0D in RIS failed with pax-error: "No such
            file or directory"

Serverhost: hostname => server
            uname -a => OSF1 server.dom.uni-stuttgart.de V4.0 878 alpha
Clienthost: hostname => ivdaxx
            uname -a => OSF1 ivdaxx V4.0 878 alpha

What i did: 1. nfs-mount of DU V4.0D from server
            2. cd /serverdirectory/OSF1
            3. try to install (logfile see below)

- installing "Patch 0042.01" out of DU V4.0D-distribution didn't help
  (42.01 = pax tar And cpio Archive Handling Correction)
- "isl/utilupdate -r -m /serverdirectory" changed nothing
- changing directory where to start ris also don't work
- installing "normal" subsets makes no problems
