Startup daemon dies

Dear managers:

I have a DEC laser printer which is using some blasted software
from DEC to be able to print on this Postscript printer. Anyways,
one creates a script and places in in the /sbin/rc3.d directory and
links it to another /sbin directory. Anyways, when I boot or reboot
my systems the script works fine and then dies after 15-20 hours. Here is
what I have in my /sbin/rc3.d/S99local file:

/usr/nic/nic_print /dev/nic/bh_ps8 bhpic 10001 &

I've also tried nohup /usr/nic/nic_print /dev/nic/bh_ps8 bhpic 10001 & .

Am I doing something wrong? I can restart the daemon manually and it
will run for a while.

Thanks!!
