[SUMMARY NOT!] /etc/TIMEZONE ... What's it for?

Well, Not much luck unfortunately. Thanks to the following respondents:

While each person was able to show me something about the timezoning that I
didn't know, nobody has been able to answer the exact question. It has been
pointed out that this file exists empty on DU systems and is called from
/etc/profile.

According to my third party developer, they say the content of the file
should be:

> TZ=EST-11
> export TZ
>
They assure me this will change automatically at daylight savings time.

Does anybody else on this list use this file?

Do any of the Digital/Compaq employees on the list have any idea?

There does not appear to be any documentation for this file. Can anybody
help please.
