Booting & Repairing ADVFS

I don't have much hope for a good answer on this, but ...

We have a 4100 running the latest 4.0D and have a corruption problem
with ADVFS. The system will boot up to the point where it states

ADVFS: using 9343 buffers containing 72.99 megabytes of memory

Then it hangs. It doesn't matter which vmunix/genvmunix is used and
it doesn't matter if the flags are set for single user boot.

Thus the question is: Assuming that I can boot the machine off of a
different set of drives, is there anyway to mount and repair the
advfs info on the corrupted drive?

TIA

Charles Richmond
