Greetings again:

Yesterday I presented the following dilemma:

> Hi Folks,
>
> Just ran into a problem. We have a DEC 3000 -M600 running 3.0 or 3.1
> (old
> workhorse) and upon rebooting from a shutdown, I got the following:
>
> INIT-S-CPU
> INIT-S-RESET_TC
>
> (...more init stuff...)
>
> AUDIT_LOAD_BEGINS
> AUDIT_LOAD_DONE
> can't open osf_boot
> 705 HALT INSTR
> PC=00000000.20000030 PSL=00000000.00001F00
>
> Can anybody tell me what the problem is and how to fix? Thanks.

Thanks to Gyula Szokoly, Alan Rollow, Rodrigo Poblete, Jacques Demeulemeester,
Dejan Muhamedagic, Larry Griffith, Roger Picard, Phetphone Chanthavong, Anselmo
Elcana de Oliveira and David J. DeWolfe for their suggestions.

It must have been a corrupted "osf_boot" file. I booted from the install cd,
mounted root and copied a clean "osf_boot" file from the /kit directory to root.
Then, performed a halt, entered "boot" at console prompt, and success!

Later,

CV
