APOP authentication

Hi there!

This is not exactly OS related, but definitely DU manager related:

I'm trying to get APOP working and having some problems. My mail server is
a Digital Alpha
Personal Workstation 433MHz running Digital Unix 4.0d. I'm running
Sendmail 8.9.1, qpopper 2.53. (from Qualcomm)
I followed all the steps to set up APOP that are in the INSTALL file.
Everything looks like it worked fine.
There are two files (pop.auth.dir & pop.auth.pag) in /etc now. I
initialized with popauth -init and added myself
as a user with popauth -user, etc.
My pop client is Eudora 4.0 on WinNT 4.0. When I set my "Authentication
Style" option to APOP and try to check
my mail, I get the following error:
"Could not find the timestamp in the banner in order to perform APOP
authentication."

I've never used APOP authentication before, so I have no clue what it is
doing during a POP query.

Any ideas what I'm missing?

Thanks
Tony Warner
