Hello, dear Unix-Gurus,
until now I thought that all machines *MUST* be running 4.0D and higher to
be sure to run after 2000 without problems.
The white paper says:
The Year 2000 warranty applies only to Version 4.0D and later.
But now we were told (by a DEC guy), that for a SAP archive server it would
be sufficient to run Unix 4.0B, and even better than using 4.0D, because 4.0D
is said to have memory management problems. (SAP = large packet of standard
software for integrated business solutions)
Does anybody have had such memory management problems? Under which
circumstances? Should I be worried of this for other servers, I have to upgrade
to 4.0D?
Any comments to 4.0B and archive server? Any tests / warnings (e.g. from the
DEC people contributing always very helpful hints to this list)?
Thanks in advance!
