Hello fellow admins,

We have recently bought a StorageWorks BA356 S-series (plus personality
module) with intention to connect to our AlphaStation 1000 (group server).
At the present moment, we have three 9Gb RZ-1DF-VW (wide 16) SBB disk to
populate the BA356. We foresee high I/O demand and therefore have been
looking at UltraSCSI adaptors. The choices are;

Adapters on the "Supported Options List"
KZPAA-AA PCI based Fast 8-bit Narrow (NOT UltraSCSI)
                (all AlphaStations)

Adapters on the "Wish we could use this list!"
KZPBA-CB PCI based UltraSCSI Wide Differential Adapter
(Most inc. AlphaStation 1000A except AlphaStation 1000)

KZPCM-DA PCI based Dual Channel Ultra with 10/100 BaseT Ethernet
                (AlphaServer 800, 1200, and 4x00)

Firstly, we would dearly love to use a KZPCM-DA. Secondly, a KZPBA-CB
would be nice. Does anybody use either adapter with an AlphaStation 1000?
I have been told by our re-seller that our maintenance contract could be
rendered void if we do not use adapter on the AlphaStation 1000's
"Supported Options List". Is this correct? Will these adapters ever be
evaluated on an AlphaStation 1000?

I would be interested any information regarding these adapters or any other
UltraSCSI adapters for the AlphaStation 1000.

Regards,
Rich
