[SUMM]: New 600au

Thanks for all the responses. Bruce Platt and Tom Webster get the
cookie (though they'd have to come to Seattle to get it). I was one
screen away from the answer, having already found my way into the Alpha
Bios Setup screen.

I just didn't notice that there was more to the CMOS setup than what was
on the main screen. A symptom of not playing with my PC for a very long
time - but hey, if you've got an AS8400 to play with - who wants to play
with a PC?

Thanks again,

At 10:09 AM 10/9/98 -0700, Susan Rodriguez seems to have written:

I'm sorry that I don't have one in front of me at the moment, but I am
pretty sure that you do the following:

After you get the splash screen (the graphic of the workstation), and
the
AlphaBios starts to initialize, hit the space bar to stop the memory
test,
then hit the F2 key to get to setup. It will take a while to get to
setup-mode

Once in setup go to CMOS options, then choose advanced. Tab down to the
field that says OS selection (or something cery similar), and this will
give you a choice of NT, VMS (SRM), and Unix (SRM).

Highlight Unix, then hit F10 to save, etc.

Have fun!

Regards,

Bruce
