We have two AlphaStation 500's running DU 4.0C with Tulip Ethernet cards
(configured) and FDDI cards (not configured). These machines are connected via
twisted pair to an Ethernet consisting of a variety of hardware/OS combinations
(Sun, SGI, PC/SunOS, Solaris, NT, etc.). Both DU machines can ping and telnet
from/to anything on the network except the other DU machine. The one exception
to this is if you ping long enough, you'll get a few responses from the other
DU machine (like 5 out of 300). I've installed the latest patch from Digital's
web site and also tried running routed on each of the machines and setting the
Ethernet address in the ARP table. From what I've been able to tell from
tcpdump, it looks like the DU machines are not seeing the arp who-has queries
and responses from the other DU machine. Any suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks.
