I am setting up an Alpha 4100 (UNIX V4.0D) which has a KZPAC-CA
Array 230/Plus Controller.
It was shipped with one disk group set-up as the boot disk; however
I want to mirror it using another similar 4GB disk.
I have set up the others disks as follows:
8 x 4GB disks as a 16GB RAID 0+1 Logical Disk
1 x 9GB disks as a JBOD disk group
1 x 9GB disks as another JBOD disk group
I recall a similar question and summary a while ago which said that
the boot disk will need to be backed up and the old disk group deleted
and then re-added as a mirror pair and the system restored. And that this
could be done using a spare disk as a temporary boot disk while the real
boot disk is set up.
Does anyone have any comments, reservations or warnings on this approach ?
What is the best way to copy the current boot disk to one of the 9 GB disks
and how do I then boot from this copy of the system ?
Any other advice/tips on this subject will be gratefully received ...
