All,
I've just been following a well written procedure by a previous Unix
Administrator on our site for creating a machine recovery tape under DU. The
process took about 30mins and I was pleasantly surprised with it's
simplicity.
My only concern was that the procedure made no mention of taking the System
down to single user mode before running the /usr/sys/bin/btcreate utility,
in fact the System was in full multiuser state with three RDBMS's running,
apart from the fact that NFS mounts were unmounted and the NIC was set to
'down'
Am I correct in assuming that it would be more suitable to create this
recovery tape from single user mode or does it not really make much
difference ?
Thanks in anticipation for your feedback on this matter.
