I would like to thanks all those who took the time to respond to my
question:

Alan Ritacco, Mark Allen, Ryan Niemes, Chris Ruhnke, Jim Williams,
Alan Davis, Brenden Phillips, Anthony Talltree, Alan Angulo, Ed Murphy

Question : Any recommendations for event monitoring tools ?

 - Several recommended a utility called Big Brother located at
    http://MacLawran.ca/bb-dnld/

- BMC' Patrol product which does monitoring and paging. Can also add
  customer features as needed.
        http://www.bmc.com

- Digital Unix has the Performance Monitor (pmgr)

- Robomon and Robocentral located at http://www.robomon.com/unix.htm
  was highly recommended.

- Telalert by Telamon http://www.telamon.com for notifications. Events are
gathered by SNMP. It does email and paging, as well as it hooks into
  Dectalk for audio alerts.

- NOCOL from http://www.navya.com. Very flexible, scalable, and extensible.
