strange behaviour with NIS

1) NIS configuration

    NIS master server : Solaris 2.6
    NIS slave server : Digital Unix 4.0b,
                        last patch : duv40bas00007-19980402

    On DU, ps gives :
      root 521 1 0.0 17:42:02 ?? 0:00.13 /usr/sbin/ypserv
      root 527 1 0.0 17:42:02 ?? 0:00.04 /usr/sbin/ypbind

    /etc/svc.conf :
        aliases=local
        group=local,yp
        hosts=local,bind,yp
        netgroup=yp
        networks=local,yp
        passwd=yp,local
        protocols=local
        rpc=local
        services=local
        SECLEVEL=BSD # for backwards compatibility ONLY

2) a strange behaviour ?

    user 'mcv' is defined in NIS map
    user 'coz' is defined in NIS map and in /etc/passwd

> ls ~mcv gives nothing
> ls ~coz gives the contents of directory of user coz

    But I run :
> cd ~mcv
> ls gives the contents of directory of user mcv
> cd elsewhere
> ls ~mcv gives the contents of directory of user mcv

    One result is that our http server (running on DU) is unable to
    retrieve user files.

Could anybody give me some explanations ?

Many thanks,
