The general consensus was to install Service Pack 3, which I finally found.
Check AltaVista tuning suggestions and run sys_check on the box.

I have one more quick question. Can I just install service pack 3 or do I
need to also install packs 1 & 2?

Original Questions:
>We are running the AltaVista Firewall 97 software on an Alpha Station 400
>running DecUNIX 4.0d. Things seem to work fine except for the WWWproxy.
We >have a T1 internet connection and at times web services run at full
speed and >other times of the day things are very slowwwwwwww. Any
suggestions what to >look at as to why things will slow down to a crawl?

Thanks for your help.
