The KZPBA-anything is not supported in any TruCluster environment.
The latest patch kit for 3.2G (I found patch kit 4) is required for proper
HSZ70 communication.
Some people seemed to prefer the route of destroying everything, starting
afresh and restoring a backup.
In the end, I can say that important things to have before you start are
a full backup of everything
a printout of your ASE database (I copied the db to a V4 system and
used asemgr to get a text output)
a printout of how to manually reinstate the file domains and LSM
volumes after you've screwed up ASE and it's deleted them ;-)
We managed to migrate some data using addvol and rmvol, but having one of
the HSZ40s wired up backwards (i.e. rz20 was really rz28 etc) meant that we
lost a couple of domains and had to recover from backup.

Original post....
I have been tasked with replacing a cabinet of disks connected to HSZ40s
with a new cabinet of disks connected to HSZ70s on a 3.2G cluster
environment.
My thoughts were to install the new controller (kzpba-ca, is this supported
?) into the 4100 then connect up half of the new disks and use lsm to
create volumes and addvol to add them into the existing domains in the ASE
services. Then remove all the old disks using rmvol and lsm (to delete the
volumes and remove the disks). Then use ASE to re-reserve the disks. I'm
hoping this will result in an ASE service that just knows about all the new
disks.
Once that's done. I plan to connect up the HSZ70s properly to both systems
(the second bunch of disks will just mirror the first bunch) and set up the
mirroring and then re-reserve the disks again.
Does this sound okay ? Any other ideas/gotchas ? Should I use the
re-reserve option or is it better to delete the service and re-create it ?
Thanks
