This is a followon question to a previous post on mkpasswd problems.

When using the adduser script we are having the following problem:

Adding new user...
Rebuilding the password database...
mkpasswd: passwd: File exists
An auth database entry already exists for (zowie)
Do you wish to edit the auth file entry for this user (y/[n])? n
Creating home directory...

You must enter a new password for (zowie).
Changing password for zowie.

New password:
Retype new password:
Hashed passwd database does not match the /etc/passwd file. Rerun
'mkpasswd /etc/passwd'.

This problem is now hampering our efforts add adding valid users. I can
work around the problem but would like to comeup with a valid solution.

Any suggestions?
