As always, the responses were quick and numerous! Thanks to all the
replies received.
The question was (paraphrased): Top 3.3 and Top 3.4 would compile but
not run on a stock 4.0D distribution. Instead it would give a memory
error and core dump. How could I fix this.
The answers:
1. Use syd instead of top. (Didn't like this one as top is on all our
platforms and is now pretty standard for everyone who uses it here).
2. Use gcc and compile again. (This one would probably work. Will
probably try this after the next option)
3. Get the latest version at
ftp://ftp.groupsys.com/pub/top (this is the
one I will try first as it involves the least change).
