Dear list members,

I want to connect a DEClaser 1152 with an Alpha running OSF using
the parallel port (/dev/lp0). The following problem occurs:

I configured the printer with 'lprsetup'. Printer type was ln03r,
device was /dev/lp0. This printer was the only one in the printcap.
Printing -> 'Waiting for printer to become ready (offline?)'
Restarting printer, reloading lpd, rebooting, nothing helps.

When I send a postscript file directly to the printer with
'cat file.ps > /dev/lp0' all is working fine.

One suggestion I got, was that the ready/busy lines in the cable
are not connected or that these signals on the printer side are
inverted. I will check this as soon as I have access to the
workstation/printer again.

Are there any other ideas/hints or a comment to the suggestion with
these signals?

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Volker Hejny
