I have the following:
Single Ended DS-BA356-SE Storage Works shelf
KZPBA-CA PCI-UltraScsi Adaptor
AlphaServer 4000 (It has two fast-wide SCSI controllers not including the
on board controller)
Anyway, I have finally configured the I/O module and shelf so that the
device is recognized on it. Unfortunately, when I run scu I get:
Device: RZ1DF-CB Bus: 3, Target: 13, Lun: 0, Type: Direct Access
For the one device currently in the shelf. This is odd because I have
the address jumpers set to the default value (all address jumpers set to off).
I do have it setup right now for Single Shelf - Dual SCSI Bus configuration.
This is primarily because I don't have the jumper module (BA-356-ME) to make
it a single bus. Regardless, the device is right next to the I/O module
and should show up as target 0. What am I am doing wrong?
I did the boot -f genvmunix and rebuilt the kernel.
On a side question, how does the doconfig rebuild device hooks? I guess what
I mean is, is it possible to put a new SCSI controller into a machine
that already has two SCSI controllers so that the ISP# gets mixed up?
If they did would this muck up the /dev files? Everything works for
me I was just wondering if I got lucky that the device was recognized
as isp2?
Thanks!
