I am running version of sendmail 8.8.8. on DU 4.0d and it does the same
thing. It is not that old.
I tested it and it is nothing to do with majordomo.
Any message sent from that box is appended by "_at_"

Subject: AW: Sendmail configuration question.
As far as I know, in old sendmail config (8.6.X),
sendmail appends a second
_at_ to bounced mails to prevent loops between two sites,
to be sure that this
mail will not be answered. This is done differently in
new sendmail
versions. The real problem should be somewhere else.
