My question was:
Hello dear alpha-osf-managers,
is there somebody who can offer a recommendation for a mail server
software based on Digital UNIX?
We are one of the few Digital customers still using Mailworks,
which is a fine piece of software, but obviously there will be no
further development on the side of Digital.
Indeed, Mailworks was sold to I/G OpenWare (see details at
http://www.iga.com/press/MailOne/mwkssrvr.htm) and maybe their
refurbished mailing software MailOne will be a option for us.
As there seem to be no plans to port Notes to Digital UNIX (nor any
plans to port Microsoft Exchange server to UNIX :-), perhaps the
free software community has to offer a fine Web-based,
standards-oriented mail server software?
There were numerous replies, thank you all!
Five out of ten recommended Innosoft's PMDF (see
http://www.innosoft.com), which is a multi-featured, multiplatform
E-mail server software, especially praised for its reliability and
supreme support, while somewhat pricy.
The other alternatives offered are (alphabetically)
-Communigate Pro from Stalker (
http://www.stalker.com)
-Netscape product suite
-Oracle Office
-Post.Office family from Software.com (
http://www.software.com)
Thanks again,
