>From the responses I've got, I can say that TruCluster is a set of tools
from which LSM, AdvFS and NSR are not mandatory but usefull.
LSM provides disk services;
AdvFS provides files services;
NSR is backup/restore software.

Hi gurus,
I'd like to understand what is necessary or mandatory to run TruCluster
software with two or three AS4100 boxes and what is not but usefull. I've
got a documentation about TruCluster software (DIGITAL Part#:EC-Z8404-51
September 1997) in which it's mentionned that " ...LSM, AdvFS and Networker
are fully utilized. "...So I've talked with DEC/COMPAQ sales guys here in
France but they are not very helpfull in saying what is mandatory and what
is not to make it run...LSM is quite expensive for us (about 8000$ per
server just for the licence). Any tips are welcome...
Regards,
JD
