OK. What I wanted was just
./MAKEDEV pty2 which would create only ptyr0 - ptyrf
I didn't look far enough into the script to see where
the pty) section was executed vs where the directory
for pty was checked for.
Since I only needed a few extra ptys, the PTY_2 gave
me many many many many too many, but for now too
many is better than too few. Time for a little rm'ing

Subject: Update: How to create additional ptty's
Seems that ./MAKEDEV PTY_? is the standard method
BUT...
My system was setup with the /dev/ptyp0 - /dev/ptypf &
/dev/ptyq0 - /dev/ptyqf
Chances are these were setup by hand?? I think, I didn't
setup the sytem.
I tried ./MAKEDEV PTY_r hoping to get /dev/ptyr0 - /dev/ptyrf
Any suggestions?

Is there a command under DU 3.2c to create additional ptty's?
Telnet is giving an error that there aren't enough ports.
Thanks
