Question: Can one use /dev/tty00 aka COM1 on AS1200 for a Fax Modem?

Dear Fellow Managers,

We bought an AS1200 and assumed that both the COM ports can be used for
connecting modems for Faxing purposes. But, OSFAX the faxing software does
not recognise the modem if I connect the same to /dev/tty00(COM1) whereas
/dev/tty01(COM2) is fine.

I did see in some earlier SUMMARIES that /dev/tty00 is not suitable for
modems??? Is this the case or someone has made it working? If indeed tty00
won't work, what other alternative is there? I need 2 Fax Modems setup.

I went through the AS1200 manual and disabled RCM so that I can set the
com1_baud (to 19200) and com1_flow (to hard) parameters and ofcourse set
com1_modem on. I didn't see any indication in the manual that COM1 is not
siuitable for modems!

By the way, the AS1200 is running DU4.0D.

Please advise and I will summarize.

Regards,
Shiva
