all of whom suggested the obvious "you must have more than one cron
running", but it was Daniel Monjar who hit the nail on the head, suggesting
that I had run "cron -l" by mistake instead of "crontab -l", and looking
back on things, that is almost certainly what was going on. That's what I
get for putting /usr/sbin in my path! :-(
