CD-Rom affecting system

Hello, All,
I have a DEC Alpha 2100A 5/300 running DU 4.0D (without the latest patch
kits). When I mounted (with "mount -r -t cdfs -o noversion -o rrip
/dev/rz6 /mnt", doing a sybase upgrade and this is the way it said to mount
it) a CD-ROM yesterday, I noticed a couple of times that the machine would
stop responding for a little while and then begin responding again. Does
anyone know of any issues regarding the way I mounted it or CD-ROM problems
on Alpha's.
On another note, is there a manual out there to decipher that damn uerf or
dia information.
And for my last question, what tools are there out there to find what is
eating up all your memory. Last night, dxsysinfo showed free memory _at_ 0%
(but enough swap space). I figured that something was running at the time
so I paid it no attention. When I came in this morning, ps showed all
processes as defunct and the machine locked up (as if it was waiting for me
to come in to stop responding :). TIA

Changa
