I asked about problems getting DU 4.0D to notice the extra drive I had
configured on a SWXCR. The new drive was a JBOD drive.
I got responses from Alan Rollow (the ever helpful), Paul Grant, Steve
Grocott, and Greg Goebel.
Alan and Steve had the right idea. The re device driver is not smart enough
to scan for all device out there, while the rz driver is.
Paul reminded me of a debug technique I should have remembered: boot the
generic kernel. My only excuse is that I have been around Linux too long,
and have configured the DAC960 under Linux and not had these problems.
Greg wanted to ensure that I had done the right things in the SWXCR
utility, and indeed I had.
Thansks to all who replied, and the solution was to include the extra drive
in the config file and rebuild the kernel. It was magic to see the device
recognized when we rebooted today with the new kernel.
