Hi all,
I've inherited a box (AlphaServer 1000 4/266) that has been upgraded
recently to DU 4.0D. This has caused a minor but inconvienient problem.
We do not have the latest drivers for the videocard in this box, and so
we can only run it in VGA mode. The problem is that the card (an ISA ATI
Mach64) is not seen at the SRM level (the >>> prompt) so that this cannot
be identified during a kernel rebuild (or something). We've been on to
DEC (OK OK - Compaq) who say that this is not within our support agreement
with them - we need some third party floppy disk or something. The
trouble is, after quite a change of personnel, we just don't know who to
contact about this anymore.
Does anyone have any clue what we are going on about? Before the firmware
and OS upgrade this machine worked in a reasonable video mode, and we want
it back in that state. Can anyone send us the particular disk contents
that we need - or if you are in the UK, do you have a particular supplier
for DEC kit that you could recommend?
Any help, comments, etc. appreciated...
