NIS yppasswd takes over ten mins for each user

Hi!

AS4100 5/533 3-CPU 512MB RAM
DU 4.0D (original media dated December 1997; no further patches
installed)

I've setup all my users (except for two application administrative
accounts) as NIS users. On my old AS2100 running DU 3.0B, yppasswd used
to take a few seconds (this was a 233MHz single CPU box with 192MB RAM).
Now on the AS4100 it takes over ten minutes for each yppasswd change.

Can anyone tell me:

- why is this so?
- Is this normal behaviour for DU4.0D, or do I need to install a patch?
- Did I possibly do something wrong in setting up NIS?

Please note that I also have C2 Security installed and running. I
currently have passwd and yppasswd renamed and called from scripts of
the same name which call them both (C2 passwd changed first then NIS).
The error I describe above happens whenever I change the passwd via the
graphical dxaccounts (NIS Users View) and the original yppasswd
executable.
