Happy New Year, fellow managers!

This is a Samba issue. We are running DU 4.0D and Samba 1.9.18p10.

Our Business network is over 2 Class C addresses(abc.cde.fgh & abc.cde.fgi)
and the Samba Server can be seen(W95 Network Neighbourhood) over the WAN in
both the subnets.

We are implementing our accounting application to a sister company and
their network is a totally different address(xxx.yyy.zzz) and they are not
able to see the Samba Server! I have introduced this new network for remote
announce and hosts allow parameters in smb.conf file(and ofcourse restarted
smbd and nmbd). The funny part is that people in the new network are able
to see NT servers and W95 work stations from our 2 class C networks but not
the SAMBA server!!

The other details in this new setup are as follows:

1. There is an IP alias on the Samba Server(which is another new network
address kkk.lll.mmm) and people from the sister company are able to telnet
to the application. The SAMBA server is able to ping workstations in the
sister company.
2. The router connecting our sister company and us is configured to let
them see only the IP alias
3. Netbeui is bridged in the router and the sister company is able to see
our domains and workstations(but not the Samba Server)

Is anyone using a similar setup? Any pointers or clues appreciated & I will
summarize(as usual).

Regards,
Shiva
