Hello OSF Managers,
I had sent a query about firmware upgrade on 8200, and I got some
replys asking for extra information. Thanks for the response. I hereby
give a detailed description of the problem.
We have alphaserver 8200 running Digital Unix 3.2C and oracle is one
of the application. Delta-6000 is an application which uses the Oracle
database and does data acquisition on the DCI-1100 16 bit parallel data
acquition cards. All was fine untill we observed the system crash when
we start acquition from the Delta-6000. The same Delta-6000 product has
a loopback test, which also crashes the system.
About a week before that, the firmware was upgraded. We have not added
or deleted any device from the system. I suspect the firmware because
the DCI-1100 cards work fine in workstation 4/266 in loopback, the PCI
box DWLPA has an ethernet and a SCSI card, which are working fine.
I think I have given all that I know.
The second point coming to firmware upgrade, this is the first time we
have done a firmware upgrade. We have a CD ver 3.3 supplied along with
the system. We have loaded firmware from CD ver 3.9. This is because
with the old firmware, we did not have the option of setting the mode
of ethernet card ewa* to BND/TP. It was auto negotiatable during boot
and default it used to take AUI if the ethernet switch was powered off
and such things. Though this was not a major problem, we tried this and
it worked. We were happy.
Now, after the Delta6000 not working, somehow we have decided to go
back to the old firmware. When we boot with that and say upd (upgrade)
we get errors like kn7cc-aa0_arc file missing, kn7cc-aa0 bad image.
The upgrade, I mean downgrade is going fine on on the KZPSA.
My doubt is, why am I not able to downgrade the firmware ? I did not
give details about what happend here because I wanted to first bring down
the firmware, try out, and if still not working, thought of explaining
the whole story.
Any help in this matter will be of utmost help for us.
Thanks all of you in advance.
