alan_at_nabeth.cxo.dec.com came through with the answer to my raid
question.
I needed to use
disklabel -rw rz33c hsz50 (hsz40 in my case, hsz50 not in my disktab) to
get the size right instead of using
disklabel -rw rz33c rz29b.
