Scripts for System Managers?

Hi All
Is there a shareware of script's for System Management, Backups, Monitoring
etc?
I'm just starting to play with the Korn Shell and realize, I'm in deep
doodoo. I would like to
start using VDUMP to manage system anyways but would like to automate some
things.
