Alphastation 500 console?

good day all ...

i cannot get my alphastation 500 to drop into console mode. i've
set jumper 6 to 2-3, which should set the front panel switch to
halt, but it keeps trying to reboot. have i missed another jumper
to twiddle? thanks!
