chk_bf_quota error message

Last night one of our DEC 3000/800's running 4.0b spit these
out:

| Jan 13 00:31:05 hub2 vmunix: chk_bf_quota: user/group underflow
| Jan 13 00:31:05 hub2 vmunix: chk_bf_quota: user/group underflow

Anybody got and ideas about what they mean? I expected to find
a cron job or something running at that time but there is none.
