Hi,

My original question was:

I work with big number of files and must write loops because I got:
"my_command: arg list too long"
How can I increase argument's size?

Thanks to all who replied.

I have got a lot of suggestion to use xargs, but the answer ( I believe
) is:

You can't. You'd need to rebuild ALL of the shells and all of the
commands
and utilities to change it, which means you'd need sources as well as
all of
the know-how to rebuild DIGITAL UNIX from sources.

Consider using a freeware operating system like Linux, where you can get
all
of the sources and change things like this to your heart's content, but
you
then can't rely on your operational procedures working on any other
system but
the one you customized.
