Open 3D 4.6 and DU-4.0C ?

I'm running DU4.0c on a PWS-433au width a PowerStorm 4D50T. As my X server
regularly crashes, I've upgraded Open3D each time a new version was
shipped, thus going from the original Open3D-4.0 to Open3D-4.5. I've also
installed the latest patches for DU. My server still crashes now and
then. Anyway, here is my question:

        Is it normal that Open3D-4.6 requires DU4.0B or DU4.0D to be installed?
        What is the problem with DU4.0C?
