Managers,
I recently asked:
> A colleague of mine has an AS500/500 with a PowerStorm 4D60T running DU 4.0b
> He recently received the new DEC 24" monitor.
...
> Can I get better than 1600x1200 resolution with this hardware? How?
As usual thanks to Dr. Tom Blinn <tpb_at_zk3.dec.com> who suggested I check the
documentation that came with the Open3D software and PowerStorm 4D60T
hardware. I in fact had looked at the online release notes for Open3D v4.4.
Here is the "relevant" information (same in PostScript or text notes):
> 3.4.4 PowerStorm 4D40T, 4D50T, 4D60T Supported Video Modes
> The following table lists the supported video modes for the
> PowerStorm 4D40T, 4D50T, and 4D60T.
> EMBED Excel.Sheet.5
> (a) Contrary to some preliminary information, this is
> currently the highest supported screen resolution of the
> PowerStorm 4DT family of graphics options. 1600x1280 is
> not supported at this time.
But then I was inspired to follow the links on DEC's Web site that described
the new monitor:
> 24"(22.5" VIEWABLE IMAGE SIZE)
> PROFESSIONAL SERIES AUTO-SCAN
> COLOR MONITOR, 16:10 WIDE SCREEN
> TRINITRON CRT, 0.26-0.28MM VARIABLE
> DOT PITCH, VGA TO 1920X1200_at_75HZ, TCO
> 95, MPRII, ENERGY STAR, HD15 MALE TO
> MALE VIDEO CABLE, NORTHERN
> HEMISPHERE ONLY. (Note: PowerStorm
> 4D60T required for monitor to operate at
> 1920x1080_at_75Hz or 1920x1200_at_65Hz
                    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
> resolution modes.)
Some success here: 1920x1080_at_75Hz works, but 1920x1200_at_65Hz (or 75Hz) still
doesn't work.
