SUMMARY: Audio CD player for DU 3.2C (or 4.0B)

I'm sorry that I took so long to get this back - we are in the middle of a move
between buildings and many things got pushed into the background for that move.
Anyway, I asked about a cd player for DU 3.2C. I got many responses that were
very useful. I took the "lazy" way out and used the one that is already on DU.
It turned out that it wasn't precompiled but took about 5 minutes to find,
recompile, and make work. The sources were in /usr/examples/motif/xcd. I
apparently didn't install the X11 demos when I installed the OS so the
precompiled version wasn't on the system. One note was that I had to change
the protections on the cd device - if I remember right I had to change the raw
device (/dev/rrz6c) and the cam device (/dev/cam) - adding rw permission for
the world. I may be wrong on the cam device but I'm sure I did change the raw
CD device.

I was in a bit of a hurry so I didn't get to try xmcd yet.

My thanks to the following for their input:

Summary:

1: try xmcd (works on both DU 3.2 and 4.0) - get from
ftp://ftp.x.org/contrib/applications/xmcd/xmcd-2.2.tar.gz
ftp://gatekeeper.dec.com/pub/X11/R6-contrib/applications/xmcd/xmcd-2.2.tar.gz
http://sunsite.unc.edu/~cddb/xmcd/

2: try xcd - binaries in /usr/bin/X11/demos/xcd or sources in
/usr/examples/motif/xcd. (Install OSFXDEMOS4xx or OSFXEXAMPLES4xx - it is also
in the corresponding 3.2C installation))

3: Try the scu(8) utility and the "play" subcommand or /sbin/scu
        Scu> help play

Thanks again (somewhat belatedly) for all your help.
