To all:
I am having problems getting a Alpha 2100 working with our EMC
Centriplex. The Centriplex was configured as 2 separate RAIDs, the first
with 61GB (eight _at_ 9GB Seagate ST410800N) and the second with 43GB (six
_at_ 9GB Seagate ST410800N). Since I'm experiencing the same problems on
both RAIDs, I'll only show one.
Running the Unix command "file" produces the following:
file /dev/rrz24*
/dev/rrz24a: character special (8/49152) SCSI #3 CENTRIPL disk #192 (SCSI ID #0) (SCSI LUN #0)
/dev/rrz24b: character special (8/49153) SCSI #3 CENTRIPL disk #192 (SCSI ID #0) (SCSI LUN #0)

I added the following entry to /etc/disktab :

Running disklabel produces the following results:
# disklabel -wrn rz24 CENTRIPL
CENTRIPL: unknown disk type
# disklabel -wrn rz24 CENTRIPLEX
CENTRIPLEX: unknown disk type
# disklabel -wrn rz24 rz28
rz28: unknown disk type
Note: Since rz28 does not work, I assume that the Alpha doesn't like the
device, and thus the "unknown disk type" is misleading.
According to EMC, the Centriplex is not supported running with an Alpha hardware
platform. However, it was working back in Sept 1997. We removed UNIX
to load VMS for a short term project, and now we have reloaded OSF 4.0b and
can't get it working again.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance,
Joe.
